Sea Creatures - New Zealand

We had already seen Hector's Dolphins and Fur Seals from a distance in Milford Sound.

We went to Kaikoura to go Whale Watching - and as well as seeing sperm whales, true giants of the ocean, we were really pleased to see fur seals as well as a "circus display" given by Dusky Dolphins.

But whilst we were doing all the research for the trip we had to stop and have a drink somewhere because it is really hard work doing research.... we found a bar and Diane didn't notice the sperm whales looking over her shoulder!

But now for the real thing.... a pair of them! In total we saw 9 sperm whales - wow!

And then it was the turn of the Dusky Dolphins....

proper acrobats in the water.

The fur seals had to have time to relax from their endeavours, so we were able to get up really close.

But they could certainly get a move on once in the water.

Later in the trip once we were up in North Island we took a cruise around the Bay of Islands and were delighted to see Bottle Nose Dolphins too!

Aren't we so lucky to have seen these wonderful creatures?
